Black walnut is solid, smooth, and has a beautiful rich dark chocolate color in the heartwood and goes distinctly cream white on the edges. This makes it perfect for any project from furniture to coasters!
Padauk is an exotic wood from West Africa that is a bright orange or almost crimson wood. Because of its exotic nature and bright color, padauk makes an excellent accent to almost any design.
Bubinga is a gorgeous African hardwood. Due to its fine, tight grain and its reddish brown color, Bubinga is often referred to as “African Rosewood”. This is also the most expensive wood in the shop, but I guess beautiful things just cost a little more in this case!
Leopardwood is an exotic wood with dark reddish-brown color with strong broad rays. The highly flecked decorative surface makes this wood ideal for furniture and accent work. Be on the lookout for when this gets integrated into some new projects!
Think Black walnut with stripes in the wood caused by the curls. This gives a beautiful natural playfulness to the wood. There are different types of wood that have these curls, however, they're a bit tricky to come by and when here it will sell fast. So be on the lookout for these beauty in my projects!
There are many different types of oak. In general oak is highly durable, easy to work with, and looks great stained or with a clear, natural finish. Oak wood comes in a number of hues, but its grain pattern is quite unique, which makes it one of the easier species to recognize.
While not technically a hardwood, so I don't put it into cutting boards, this gives a beautiful milky red color that will add some love to any design!
The breathtaking coloring that has made Purpleheart world famous occurs when its freshly cut brown heartwood is exposed to the air, rapidly turning deep purple. Over time, prolonged exposure to light causes the heartwood to slowly transition from purple to a rich, dark brownish-purple shade.
