Having always wanted to be able to build things, and stuck at home because of a pandemic, I took a woodworking class. I instantly fell in love. Being able to draw up my own designs and make them come to life is just as fun as finding a new type of wood to work with and seeing it's colors transform when the oil hits it. It's been a fun journey, but now I've been told that we don't have space for it all because apparently you can have too many charcuterie boards... who knew?!
So here we are, this company is my medium to keep having fun and creating beautiful things out of wood without taking up the whole house. I hope you enjoy them enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them!
Each piece starts with the wood. It seems simple, but I go out and find and hand select all of the wood I use for my projects. Usually this means seeing a slab of wood and saying "oh that's beautiful." Some slabs have an obvious project use, while others are just unique and those ones I'll pick up and leave in my garage until (as I've told no one for fear of insanity) the slab tells me what it wants to be used for. Like I said, it all started with the wood.
Once the wood is in my garage and the project is in my head, it's off to the races!
The last step is sealing the product up so that it lasts. I use only Walrus Oil, which is food safe coconut oil that is (from everything I've read) the best stuff out there. Each piece gets two coats of oil and one coat of wood wax to ensure you're getting your piece in the best condition for a long life!
Now if you're thinking about a custom project, that just narrows down the wood search. Maybe it's a certain type, thickness, or length. Regardless my process is the same, I'm finding a beautiful piece of wood and then going from there.
My goal is to not only create pieces you can enjoy for years to come, but to give you something to show off! If you buy a charcuterie board, I want you to hang it up or put it against the back wall of your kitchen when it's not in use. A wine caddy? That should be holding wine glasses on display!
If you're not that level of happy with your piece then I will take it back and refund your purchase–you only pay shipping. If there's a craftmanship issue, or something substantially wrong with the piece–same deal, send it back and I will fix or replace it.*
